We were in a giant sandbox! It was really like snow, but it was sand. We found a little pocket place (see the grooves going down to the pocket, next to the hill in the picture below?) and used it as a kid pocket.
It was very hot outside, so at the ring of the kid pocket, it was actually very cool. Inside was the softest sand you could ever imagine! I used to live where there were lots of beaches. This wasn’t the same. The other beaches had rough sand and less sand and no sand dunes. I’ll tell you why I like sand dunes.
We went sledding!
On sand!
We sometimes ran into each other, had some wipe-outs, got so tired that we had to rest going up the hill, and things like that.
It wasn’t as easy as it sounds. You had to create the grooves to sled on. Some hills were hard to do. You had to make a pathway.
Some hills were easy, because they just went straight down like a bullet!
The hill we went on most was easy. And at night, we dug out little sand holes that we could be in, which made a little bed so we could watch the stars.
Mommy said we can go back there some day! But for now, our home is in this picture.
See you later…
Hi Camille,
I enjoyed seeing these pictures of you sledding down the sand dunes. I wonder what that soft sand felt like. I only know the scratchy sand I’ve been on – on the ocean front beaches I’ve been to in New York, Florida, and California.
.
I hope to see you next week.
Love,
Grandma
