About two months ago our left RV slide broke and so we are waiting for repairs. A slide is the part of the RV that extends out. The only time you’d extend your slide is when you’re parked at a park. We didn’t really want to be here this long, because now it’s getting really hot, around 100 – 112 degrees.
I’m so happy that this place has a lake to cool off in, because the lake is always very cold! Just recently we found this nice little cove area. I’m hoping to go back there at some point.
We like to swim around and play this game with a new paddles and a ball, where you hit it to the other player and the other player hits it back. But we modified it a bit, so now there’s a person in the middle who is trying to catch the ball.
We also got an inflatable boat and when we pump it up we like to take turns lying in it and looking up into the sky. We also like to paddle around in it.
We like to bring this nice small little grill and we cook hot dogs and burgers and salmon. It all tastes really good. There are many picnic benches around.
Mommy and I went to the North Rim of Grand Canyon to work on different projects. Daddy drove us there, so that he could keep the car for the three days we’d planned to stay. The drive was almost three hours and we stopped at a nice restaurant called the Three Merry Wives for lunch.
As we got closer, I was surprised by the number to trees. It went from desert to forest. When we got there mid afternoon, we checked into our cabin. It looked very nice! It was like you were in the pioneer age. It was very rustic. Everything was made out of wood, but it had a normal bathroom.
The reason Mommy took me was that I was working on an idea of making a YouTube channel about my viewpoint of roadschooling. Mommy was working on writing. We went up there so that we could have a lot of time to work on whatever we needed to do with no distractions.
I felt like I didn’t have enough time in the RV and had trouble finding quiet places to talk. Also the heat was distracting in its own way. This place was nice and quiet and was very cool, because it was up in the mountains a little over 8,000 feet.
It did help. It helped a lot! It made a very big difference. I got a lot of work done. Like I found out how to talk into my phone, how to put video clips together, and how to edit. And it helped that I didn’t need wifi, because there was no wifi there. After working for a while we’d go to the restaurant and they’d serve delicious food and they had an amazing view!
I made friends while I was up there, too. While we were there, there was a big star party! If you don’t know what that means, there were a ton of telescopes pointing at different planets. I got to see Jupiter, Mars, two stars circling each other, a star that had exploded, and my favorite planet Saturn!
We also got to see lots of golden mantled ground squirrels, which look like chipmunks, except they don’t have their stripes going to their noses. They were more brave than any other squirrel type mammal.
I also saw some Kaibab squirrels. Those looked very cool, because they were black, except for their tail, which was really white!
Hi Cole,
I love reading your blogs. I just wrote a fairly long comment, but when I clicked on “Post Comment” it seems I’d made a mistake entering the CAPTCHA Code and it didn’t get posted. So I’m writing a shorter reply (so I don’t repeat too much in case it did get posted).
I’m glad to hear there was a cool lake to relax in and have picnics at (at Sand Hollow State Park), and that you and Mom got to spend a few days at Grand Canyon’s North Rim and you enjoyed the Star Party.
I’ve been to both rims of the Grand Canyon; I remember seeing the brave golden mantled ground squirrels, but I’ve never seen a Kaibab squirrel.
I look forward to reading all your blog, especially hearing about all the places you visit and things you see, lots of which I’ve never seen.
Love, Grandma
I’m happy that you’re reading all my blog articles! I can’t wait to go up to SD to see Mount Rushmore. Please say hi to David and Corwin for me!
Wow! Sounds like it’s been crazy hot out there! Glad to know you are back on the road again. Loved this latest blog post. I read it aloud to Molly, who is currently cooking up something that is bound to be delicious. Looking forward to seeing the new YouTube Channel. Where are you off to next? Molly says hi. Also, the kitties send their best regards.

We’re currently at someone’s house who has lots of pets! We’re near Salt Lake City, UT. I hope to get the YouTube Channel finished soon. I’m working on getting it up and running. Hi, Molly! Looking forward to visiting you in September.
