When we left New Orleans we went to Baton Rouge. Since Baton Rouge is the capital of Louisiana, we wanted to go see it. We stayed at the Farr Park Equestrian Center, where there were tons of different horses.
When we visited the capitol, we went to the top of the tower. It was very high. It took us two elevators to get to the top. A breeze down on the ground felt like a wind storm on the top! It was a wonderful view.
On the way down I could feel my ears pop. On the 1st floor there was a medallion in the middle of the room. That was the seal of Louisiana!
In the corner of the room there was a time capsule. The thought of it being there for the next hundred years, when someone opened it and saw all the past was amazing!
To one side of the big room there was a hall that lead to another big room where the congress men would sit and talk for five hours. Here’s a sample of what they might say, “The cost of bananas is one cent more. Let’s talk about that for two hours.”
When we got outside we saw a house that looked like it was beaten up by a sledge hammer. Inside the building I found out it was a small museum that used to be an ammo building.
Later the weirdest thing happened. We were walking down the street when we saw a crowd of people staring at something, so we went to see what they were looking at. In the middle of about thirty billion cars was president Obama riding in a car/limo and I saw him!
A few days later we saw Nomadic Fanatic at Farr Park. Nomadic Fanatic is a famous YouTuber on YouTube. He does videos at about basically doing what we’re doing. We should make our own YouTube channel and be famous like him!!
He stayed a while. When he was here we did different thing with him. My friend, Chris, took him to Baton Rouge to go see things and video stuff. After that we went and saw Jax. Jax is a 7-toed cat that lives with Nomadic Fanatic in his RV.
Before we left (nomadic fanatic going east and we (my family + Chris) going west) we went to Moe’s, a Mexican restaurant we all love. It was Nomadic Fanatic’s first time there. (Moe’s is one of my favorite places to eat)
After that we left for a living museum where we could spend the night. The next morning we went inside the living museum where there was a science center. In the science center there were amazing things. For instance, in one room it talked about the earth and how special it is. It is the only planet we know of with life that can be habitable. Did you know that on earth one fourth is land and the other part is water? That means that three fourths of our planet is water!
In a different room there was a cloud machine. I felt the cloud, which felt better then silk! After that on the other side there was a tornado machine. When you flipped the switch it would make a tornado. The funny thing is that it would start pulling the cloud from the cloud machine to it!
We learned about the layers of the earth and I learned what made those volcano-like holes. Crawfish that made them!
So after that we went to all these houses from the nineteenth century. There were Cajun houses and other types of houses. So, how you know that a house is Cajun? You will see the stairs to the attic outside instead of in the house.
Then we came across a river. On the other side there was a ferry which was empty. I saw a rope going from one side to the other. It went through the boat followed by two other ropes on the sides which I assume kept the boat from flouting away. Since they boat was on the other side I pulled the rope to make the boat come to me. It did not budge. This puzzled me for a little bit. Then it hit me. I pulled the rope again and saw the rope wasn’t attached to anything on the boat, because you are the thing to attach the rope to the boat. By holding the rope and standing on the boat, you make it move! So I ran to the other side to get the boat. Then I pulled it to the other side and back (with the passengers). It was fun!
Then it was time to go (after about 10-18 times of pulling the boat back and forth. It was fun going across the river especially when you stop in the middle of it and enjoy the view).
So now we are continuing our adventure so until next time.
Hi Cole,
I really liked this entry of yours; the wonderful pictures, your descriptions of things you saw in Baton Rouge, and especially how you described the ferry that you pulled back and forth across the river.
Love, Grandma
