A couple weeks ago, we went to a farm in Tennessee where there were rabbits, big and fluffy. Also, there were two house dogs. One was shy, but loved to just sneak up behind you and sniff you. Sometimes he would let you pet him, but the other dog was very different. He always loved being pet. If you tried to pet the other dog he would sneak his way in there so you would pet him instead. If you did pet him he could sit there for hours, enjoying it.
Also, there were two outside cats, one was gray and the other was calico. They would roam the farm. There were five Guinea fowls, who all liked to attack the cats. One of their strategic moves was to have one of them walk up to the kitty and see what it was eating. If he liked the food, he’d start eating at it and the other Guineas would ambush the kitty from the bushes.
There were also goats and not just four or five but about forty. There was also a pony, a horse, and a few sheep. The farmer’s name is Beth and every day she gets a half a quart of milk from her one goat, Jessa.
In the morning, I could hear the rooster. I’d never been woken up by a rooster before. They’re very loud! When we got up we did chores like milk the goat, feed the rabbits, and then feed the chickens. After that, we would ride the pickup truck to help the goats in the other pastures. We would bring hay bales for the goats to eat.
At the end of the three night visit we had to go on with our adventure. When we left we said goodbye to everyone: the goats, the chickens, the rooster (which said cock a doodle doo), the rabbits, the cats, the dogs and as we drove by the other pastures I said goodbye to the many goats, sheep, and the two big dogs, which barked at our RV as we left.
(Oh, and we also said goodbye to Beth!)
Hi Cole,
I’ve been reading your sisters’ blogs and waiting for a new one of yours. I love this one, as it tells about all the farm chores you did. It’s also interesting that your favorite animal is the wolf (one of my favorites). This evening a coyote ran across
the street, right in front of my car, as I drove up the steep hill near my house.
I just got home from a cruise to Hawaii, where I was thrilled to see an animal I’d never actually seen before – a mongoose. I saw several of them, scurrying in and out of the rocks (between the road and the ocean), near a beautiful Japanese Garden.
Love,
Grandma
It’s cool that you like wolves, too! And it’s amazing that you saw a coyote and mongoose! It sounds like you had fun in Hawaii! I hope to see Hawaii, too.
