Most people think that the desert is a hot place, but the desert isn’t always hot. Though it’s dry, it can be very cold. Sometimes it can get down to 40. And it’s not that barren a place. A lot of animals live here. Like lizards live very well in the desert. And porcupines.
And rabbits are everywhere!
There aren’t just regular cactus. We saw a bumpy one with no spikes. And a swirly one with no spikes with purple flowers on the bottom. And Junipers.
The cactus aren’t just plain cactus. There’s one called the Flying Saucer Cactus. It has big flowers.
We went to this really cool place. It was called the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. That’s where we saw really big lizards just sitting on the rocks everywhere!
I love the desert! And when Mommy said it was time to leave, we said, “Aw!!”

I’ve seen cactus flowers in the desert, but I’ve never seen such beautiful big red ones. I’ve seen lizards there too, and rabbits, but not porcupines.
