When we got to Vegas, there were a lot of tall buildings in the middle of the desert. You could still see the desert in the middle of the city. There were a lot of helicopters that flew by. Everything was big. There was no little stuff around.
When we got to our camping spot it was a big open parking lot near the High Roller, which is an observation wheel. We called it a Ferris wheel, because I don’t know the difference between a Ferris wheel and an Observation Wheel.
The High Roller was 550 feet and at night every time one of the rooms would get to the top, it would start lighting up with a red dot on the top of it. And there were colors that went around the circle a lot.
Serena said she wanted to go on a Ferris wheel, so we Googled “tallest Ferris wheel” and found the High Roller in Las Vegas, so we decided to head over to it. It opened in 2014 and is the tallest Ferris wheel in the world!
But first, before that, Mommy brought us to the Golden Nugget, because we each had a golden coupon from Christmas for one night at a hotel. I still have my get out of jail free coupon, because I didn’t use that one yet. I also had a second night with Mommy because I finished my homeschooling target four weeks in a row!
The Golden Nugget was so BIG! There were two hotel buildings, a three story pool which I’ll talk about later, a mini mall, and a big parking structure. We got to the check in line, it was so long but surprisingly it went very fast and we checked in to our room.
There were two beds that were very springy. There was a TV but nothing good was on. Soon we went to the pool, a three story pool, that had a very cool water slide that started at the top and went all the way down through an aquarium (which is in the middle of the pool) and into the pool. The hotel like all the other buildings in Vegas has a big room of slot machines.
When we got back from the hotel, we went to the High Roller at night. All kids are free! When we got there, I saw the little rooms that went around the wheel.
They never stopped. You had to get on while they were moving. The trip took thirty minutes! When we got to the top there was so much that you could see! I saw so many lights going so far out. It was amazing!
Also, while we were in Las Vegas, we visited the Neon Museum. I thought it would be all about the signs of Las Vegas which had beautiful lights shining, dazzling. But it turned out to be a bunch of signs laying against walls or other signs.
They called it a Boneyard. None of the signs lit up. Only seven could light up, but only at night. I felt disappointed.
We also went to the Hoover Dam, which WAS the biggest dam in the world. It looked very cool and looked like it was entirely made out of concrete.
We crossed it and I could see the difference between the water levels. One side was higher than the other. Our tour guide was very funny! And he told us how it made power and it was cool to look at the power generators.
Before we left, on Mother’s Day, we went back to the High Roller, because Mommy’s were also free that day. It was cool to be able to see the view during the day. You could see the buildings much better.
Vegas was amazing. I will miss it. It’s a city that never sleeps. Good bye!
Hi Cole,
I love these descriptions of places you visited in Las Vegas and Hoover Dam. I’ve been to Hoover Dam, and was very impressed with it (as you were). However, I’ve
never seen many of the new things you saw, like the High Roller and the 3 story slide and pool in The Golden Nugget, because I haven’t been to Las Vegas in more than 5 years.
Thanks for all of these pictures, especially the High Roller with it’s little rooms.
Love, Gramdma
