Everywhere I go there is a lot of different scenery. There’s a lot of hours that we’re just going down the highway. During those hours I work on math, reading, vocabulary and other things. And I look out the window. It’s fun looking around at the different stuff outside.
Over the last month, I’ve been to Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island and we’ve stopped in Massachusetts for a while. There were different trees in different places. For instance, in North Carolina I saw more pine trees than any other tree. Here, in Massachusetts, there are a whole variety of trees.
Right now, the leaves are amazingly colorful. Some are just red, some are yellow and some have all the colors on their leaves. Its way different from how I imagined it back in Florida. I knew there’d be some colors, but I never thought a tree might have no green, but only yellow or red or orange.
I’ve also seen different animals in different places. For instance, now I am in a place where there are chipmunks. And new birds that have blue backs and light brownish belly. In one place, a sign on the highway said to watch out for bears. I’m used to signs that say to watch out for ducks! It’s a big difference.
One place we stopped there were so many mockingbirds. We were stopped at a Walmart, eating at a restaurant, when I saw about a dozen going from pole to pole to pole. I could tell they were mockingbirds because on the side of their wings they had two white stripes. And another place where we stopped to eat there were five massive crows, about as big as a football, hanging around.
The houses look way different here, too. They aren’t smooshed in together like they are in other areas. There’s a lot of space between the houses. The yards around here are extremely big. And the houses are pretty big, too! A lot of homes have things that jut out, kind of like the slides on our RV.
To explain, a slide is a part of the outer wall that moves in or out depending on what you need. If you’re parked, you bring the slides out and have more space in the RV. However, when you’re driving, they need to be in, because you need more space on the outside so you don’t hit cars going down the highway. I think they might actually act like airplane wings and pick it up off the ground for a few seconds before coming back down, which would startle the driver.
Another thing that the houses have here is that many have basements, which is very different for me. I’d never seen one in Florida. I don’t think you can have one there because you’re just above sea level, so you’d have an underground pool for your basement. Hey, that’d be great. An indoor pool!
I can’t wait to see more different places! While I was writing this blog article with Mommy, I realized that I would like to study about all the birds that are around the places that we go. I’ll share more about the birds that I see with you in future blog articles!
